The ballot language can be confusing - let's break it down!
The graph below gives a visual representation of what the question is asking.
- The GRAY bar represents the April 2022 referendum ;that was on your December 2022 tax bill. We are in our third year of the $490,000; after the 2025-26 school year the $490,000 will drop off.
- The ORANGE represents the November 2024 referendum; this will allow for the district to levy for an additional $310,000 recurring. Recurring means that this stays in our revenue limit going forward. The $310,000 will ONLY impact your December 2024.
- The BLUE represents the November 2024 referendum; this allows for the district to KEEP the $490,000 in our revenue limit recurring; just like the $310,000. There is NO tax impact on the $490,000 since we are already receive that amount with the 2022 referendum.
It's important to understand that the ONLY tax impact to our community will be the $310,000 on your December 2024 tax bill!
Question: Shall the School District of Argyle, Lafayette and Green Counties, Wisconsin be
authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, by
$310,000 for the 2024-2025 school year (and to remain at that amount for the 2025-2026
school year), and by an additional $490,000 for the 2026-2027 school year (for a total of
$800,000 and to remain at that amount thereafter), for recurring purposes consisting of
sustaining district operating expenses to maintain the current level of operations?
|
- The tax impact is estimated at $1.16 per $1,000 or $116 per $100,000 of property value for the $310,000.
- The ONLY impact to the community is with the December 2024 tax bill for the amount of $310,000.
- Taxes increase ONCE and remain in the tax bills ongoing ("recurring").
- Taxes DO NOT increase by extending the $490,000 starting with the 2026-2027 school year since this amount has been included in tax bills beginning with the December 2022 tax bill and will remain in tax bills going forward.
- The chart below offers examples of what the tax impact would be based off of your "estimated fair market value" found on your tax bill.
